    Glad to see you're back Stewart, I'm jealous of the variety you're managing to grow - every single thing I try to grow gets obliterated by possums, so my yard ends up looking like a plant prison while I try to protect everything. Please keep getting out into the garden and sharing with us!

    I’ve used the comfrey leaves and liquid for rotting down wood chip into a very good fertile compost. But have had no success using it for liquid fertiliser. Would love to know why it doesn’t work. Going to try using it on a small scale alongside various ph amendments and dilutions. I’ve had great success using 6x manure and blood fish and bone but they are expensive.

    I’m actually a lady 😁😁. You’ve got a lot to keep you occupied 😁 🪴. One suggestion is to put lattice around the bottom of your house. It keeps animals from going under there and using it as a toilet lol. I like the pumpkin hedge 😁. Another garden tour when all the flowers are blooming would be nice too. Another Birdies raised bed will be great! I’ve got one birdies bed I got cheap off the Facebook Marketplace. I’ve been busy putting solar lights in my garden. Too cold to do much else. The little blackbirds have finally found my garden and are causing chaos so I’ve bought a fancy bird feeder and some wild bird seed to try to bribe them from making a huge mess kicking my sugarcane mulch out onto the cement everyday. Winter is the worst for mental health. As soon as the sun peeks out I feel so much better and much more productive. Thankx for the Garden Tour. How big a block is it? Keep up the videos if you want. We’ll watch them 😁🪴.

    • @StewartDorman
      @StewartDorman 8 дней назад

      Yes. A lattice skirt for the house is another job on my long list of things to do. I'm thinking when I get some more flowers would be a good time for another garden tour 👍 The blackbirds sound like a menace. Possums and rats are my main foe. My block is just short of 900m but it is very narrow and long. Thanks for watching and I'm so glad you did.

    May I suggest that you can give the mother plant a really good watering several hours or overnight if you a propagating in the morning! This will assist with the cutting not having to seek water in the early stages, and prevent too much moisture loss through transpiration. I reckon that the sliver you remove should expose part of the inner wood (i.e. the white core) immediately before potting. I hope this helps!

    In northern California amaryllis Belladonna, aka naked ladles, naturalize very happily although they don't seem to spread. I have seen them flourishing aling roadsides and other spots where gardens once were. Winter/spring rain is all the TLC they get, but the late summer bloom is spectacular and fairly long lasting. Thank you so much for your "Down To Earth" and uncomplicated presentation. Extremely helpful. I do have a question and hopefully you will get time to reply. How do I care for my strawberries over winter? We get medium (occasional heavy) frosts in our region. Thank you in advance.

    • @StewartDorman
      @StewartDorman 3 месяца назад

      Strawberries tolerate frost fairly well, but their flowers can be affected. I'm not sure how many strawberries you have but in small amounts covering with a sheet or a light blanket is enough protection. Just lay it over your plant when you expect a frost and remove it the next day. If you are concerned about your plants getting squashed or damaged by the blanket, then a few stakes to keep it above your plants will do. Alternatively, if you have a large area, there is horticultural fleece available from various places. The same applies just cover your plants when frost is expected. A quick search on Google should find you a local supply or online even. Cheers, Hope this helps.
